Aga Talking, Sound installation 56'3'' (2008)

Created during the workshop in North Uist, Scotland. The work was prompted by the pleasure of sharing a house with 24 other artists from all around the world. The artist’s favourite place was the Kitchen, where the enormous oven and cooker, known as the Aga would keep us warm and bring us together to have tea, coffee, drinks and later in the night, prompt the singing. I made a recording of the daily chatter in the kitchen and made a sound installation of the recordings in the bathroom. The idea was to find an unexpected place where the audience can re-enter into our intimate conversations in a private, yet unexpected place.

الآغا تتحدث – تجهيز صوت 2008

تم إنجاز هذا العمل في ورشة عمل مع ٢٤ فنان من جميع أنحاء العالم، في جزيرة شمال يوست في اسكتلندا. كان المطبخ هو مكان التجمع المفضل لدى الفنانين، حيث نلتفي حول الفرن الكبير المعروف بإسم الآغا. تمدّنا الآغا بالحرارة ونتناول حولها وجباتنا والشاي والقهوة وأطراف الحديث، ولاحقا في الليل نلتقي حولها للغناء. سجّلت أحاديثنا اليوميّة في المطبخ حول الآغا وفي يوم العرض أعدت بث التسجيلات الصوتيّة في غرفة الحمام كونه مكان خاص ولا يتوقع الجمهور الاستماع إلى محادثاتنا الحميمة فيه.
